The following nonprofit organizations provide homeownership preservation and foreclosure assistance.
HOPE NOW preserves homeownership and prevents foreclosures via:
Today, with more financial obligations and many financial options, money management may seem difficult and confusing at times. Providing money management information and assistance since 1969, the Consumer Credit Counseling Service (SF) helps people balance life's financial demands.
Through our 888-995-HOPE hotline, the Homeownership Preservation Foundation has a single mission: to help homeowners avoid foreclosure. We are an independent nonprofit that provides HUD-approved counselors dedicated to helping homeowners.
The help we offer is free.
Our counselors are experts in foreclosure prevention and trained to set up a plan of action designed just for you and your situation. When you talk to us, you won't be judged and you won't pay a dime. That's because we don't just offer general advice - we help you take action. Counselors will arm you with education and support that assists you in overcoming immediate financial issues...at no cost to you.
The National Coalition for Asian Pacific American Community Development is the first national advocacy organization dedicated to addressing the community development, organizing and advocacy needs of the diverse and rapidly growing Asian American and Pacific Islander communities nationwide. We are a membership-based network of more than 100 organizations and individuals in 17 states that serve Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, Native Hawaiians, refugees and immigrants nationwide. Our members use innovative affordable housing, community development, organizing and planning strategies to improve the well-being of low-income AAPI communities.
National CAPACD is partnering with our network of member organizations and mortgage industry leaders, including Freddie Mac, NeighborWorks America and Countrywide, to ensure that AAPI communities know what to do about foreclosures in their neighborhoods.
The National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC) with over 100 agencies and more than 900 local offices throughout the country and Puerto Rico counsel more than 2 million people per year. All members are 501(c)(3) nonprofit, mission-driven, community-based agencies and many are known as Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS). An increasing number of agencies operate under other names, but all members can be identified by the NFCC member seal.
The NFCC represents the largest and most experienced network of more than 1,200 certified housing counselors. Housing counseling services include: foreclosure prevention and loss mitigation counseling; individual pre-purchase housing counseling; homebuyer education programs and seminars; down payment assistance programs; individual post-closing counseling; homeless counseling; post-closing education programs; predatory lending education; homeownership voucher counseling (Section 8); and reverse mortgage counseling.
The NCRC is an association of more than 600 community-based organizations that promotes access to basic banking services, including credit and savings. According to NCRC, this serves to create and sustain affordable housing, job development and vibrant communities for America's working families. Its members include community reinvestment organizations, community development corporations, local and state government agencies, faith-based institutions, community organizing and civil rights groups, minority and women-owned business associations, and local and social service providers from across the nation.
NeighborWorks America’s creates opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, improve their lives and strengthen their communities. NeighborWorks offers training courses, funding and resources for foreclosure mitigation counselors; conducts public outreach campaigns to reach struggling homeowners; and works with local leaders to create sustainable foreclosure intervention programs.
